During my internship, I had the opportunity to travel outside Delhi for work and leisure. For work, I visited Ahmedabad twice, in the last week of June and the last week of July. Ahmedabad is located in the state of Gujarat, and it is the most populous city there.
In addition to Ahmedabad, I also visited Agra, Jaipur and Mussorie. Agra was one of my first destinations. It was a full-day trip only. Me and my friends took an all-included tour. Our guide picked us up very early in the morning, and by 11:00 a.m. we were already in Agra. There, we visited the three main attractions: the Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort, and the Mini Taj. We couldn’t get to know much about the city per se, but it was still a very nice experience!
A couple of weeks later, me and some friends went to Jaipur for the weekend. We took a taxi service, so we had to wake up very early on Saturday. We arrived at the city four hours after our departure. The first place in our list was the City Palace, and it was such a beautiful experience! We visited all the rooms that were available to the public, including the Blue Room and the Mirror Room. In the afternoon, we had an amazing Rajasthani lunch, followed by a shopping session, as Jaipur is well known by its earrings and fabric printings.
On our next day, we visited the Old Palace! I thought I had already seen the most beautiful part of Jaipur, but I was wrong! The Old Palace was as beautiful and the new one, and even more! For example, I like more the Mirror room in this place.
Right after, we had a quick lunch in the House of Chai, because we need to start our way back early so we don’t get stuck into traffic.
Finally, the last city I visited in India was Mussoorie. This trip was a bit different as I managed to go by train. Although at the beginning it was hard to navigate the Government website to book a train, after a few failed trials, I managed to book mine. I left early in the morning. The duration of the trip was 5 hours approximately and I arrived at Dehradun. From there, I took a cab for Mussoorie. Given the traffic jam, it took me almost three hours to get there! The city was packed, but still beautiful. I enjoyed connecting with nature, walking near the river, doing a short trekking, and coming back to the city for a Himalayan dinner.
Although I wish I had more time to travel to other cities such as Mumbai and Kolkata, I am glad I managed to visit a few places during my stay in Delhi.
